The Departure

An intimate portrait of Ittetsu Nemoto, an aimless and rebellious former punk rocker turned Buddhist priest. In Japan, he is renowned for rescuing countless suicide men and women by his insightful and loving counsel. However, Nemoto is approaching middle age with his own wife and young son when he finds that his life is at risk from heart illness, which is exacerbated by the enormous emotional burden of caring for others who no longer wish to live. Can he find the resiliency to preserve himself when protecting others takes such a toll?
